This week’s Five Minute Friday word was Breathe. The premise of Five Minute Fridays is to write for five minutes on the weekly word prompt. Here is my five minute writing piece on the topic of Breathe.
My kid woke up this morning and barfed and I wanted to spend my morning at MOPS, even though it was my group’s turn to bring a snack, and I had no idea what I was going to bring…and then the barf. I just had to breathe, to take a real deep breath and be thankful to comfort my poor son, to let him know that I was right there, that I wasn’t going anywhere, that I wasn’t going to push him too hard today, over-extending the family. I was just going to breathe in and put on my pants and tend the infirmary…and the laundry…and the dishes…and make my children smile and laugh, and teach them to the best of my ability that sometimes life can just crap on you, and in those times you don’t run away screaming you just breathe and take it one step at a time.
